SSL Certificate Checker FAQ

What is an SSL certificate checker?

An SSL certificate checker reads the public HTTPS certificate for a domain and shows practical details: who issued it, when it expires, whether it matches the checked hostname, what names are listed in the certificate and whether the chain could be trusted by this server.

How to use this SSL checker

Enter a domain such as example.com, choose the port and press Check SSL. The tool connects from the server, reads the certificate and displays a copyable report.

Common SSL certificate problems

The most common issues are expired certificates, certificates that are valid for a different hostname, missing intermediate certificates, self-signed certificates and domains that do not support HTTPS on the checked port.

Can this check any URL?

No. Use only a public domain name like example.com. Full URLs, paths, emails, direct IP addresses and local domains are blocked for safety.

Why does it say the chain is not trusted?

The server running this tool could not verify the certificate chain using its local trust store. That can happen with self-signed certificates, missing intermediate certificates, expired certificates or uncommon trust setups.

Does this tool upload private data?

The domain name and port are sent to the server because the server must connect to check the certificate. Do not enter private internal hostnames.
